hey, i didn't noticed this msg, so sorry for so late answer.
first you have to mask everything, you dont want to be resymetyied
second you go to tool>deformation>smart resym (just hit it and watch the magic)
would you mind telling me about this re-symmetry tool? i mucked up the mirrored sides of my character because i made a bunch of stuff on on side without checking the other side. the reason i need mirrored sides is because, well my uv is mirrored and I'm not sure where it will mirror from, the good side or the worse. so i need the both the same.
