| 3DM Moderator | I think Z-brush have one bad, big side. Good models have very big counts of polygons, and cant be animated in 3ds max. :( Z-brush good use to create statycal objects - Braces, rings...... Or, no?

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | You can animate models from ZBrush on any 3d app. ZBrush can handle models with several millions of polygons, but that is just for sculpting within ZBrush, you can animate a lower poly cout version of the same model in max, or any other 3D app and use the displacement maps generated on ZBrush, the result is almost the same as in ZBrush. :D Last edited by skinfather; 07-18-2005 at 06:43 PM. |

| 3DM Moderator | I think not one people dont use Z-brush to create models for animation. For exemple one or two character in scene with 5-10 mln poly and - your Dual Xeon is dead! If render time more then 15 min for one frame you can not render. And you need Skin and unwrap this models its Harakiry!!! I think Z-brush need only for static objects.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Yes ZBrush is for static renders because is not an animation software. Nowadays more and more people are integrating ZBrush on their workflow for animation projects and even for game industry. As i said you can animate models created in ZBrush on any 3D app, but oviously not a 5 million polygons model, it would insane to try to animate a model with such amount of polygons, instead you use a low poly version of it and apply the displacement maps or normal maps generated in ZBrush, to give the detail to the model. Here is an interesting link of an interview with Tibor Madjar and Dave Cardwell, from the Weta Digital's modeling team that made the models from the movie Return of the King with ZBrush. http://pixologic.com/zbrush/intervie...interview.html Last edited by skinfather; 07-19-2005 at 10:02 PM. |
