Angry Tyre-too many polys

Hi guys,
This is the VW_Touareg I'm working on right now.

As always the tyre slows down my PC because of the high polygon number
Is there a way to optimise it keeping the same smoothness?..I don't think so....I tried them all.
Anyway if you have any suggestions, I'll appreciate.
Thanx :bounce4:

I can't wait to finish it and sell my work on 3dm-mc

Hi there.
Have you ever tried Vizup, Rational Reducer or Polygon Cruncher? you can control the polygon number that you need to keep a smooth surface.

I hope it helps.

Hi Duncane

Rational reducer is a stand alone software and supports .3ds and other cad file formats
http://www.sim.no/products/SIM_Rational_Reducer/

polygon cruncher is a plugin for 3ds max and ligthwave, so you don't need to export your model to optimize it.

I haven't tried vizup but R.R. has been very usefull for me because i work with mechanical desktop too and Polygon Cruncher has crashed 3ds max some times when i optimized a very high polygon model but maybe that bug has been fixed in newer releases.

use a simpler modeling skill in a correct way. in that situation you can make good and smooth tyre with so much lower polygons. good luck.

Hey... well hope it'll help ya:
It's lighter way to crash polys. (but only if ur using 3ds max). it's an modifire called Optimize Modifire(to get it right click in any of toolbars and then press costumize then search in the text window) it cuts some polys that isn't needed or u can cut them self. :p
