Rep Power: 6 ![]() | thanks :) i can allways help as far as my skill can go :P hehe really good work keep it coming. only thing i think you should be carefull with and try to avoid is the triangles, try to keep them mostley quads. will make it easyer to smooth, the material will look better and you will prevent strange lighting when the render comes :) just so you have it in minde. but your triangles looks good and vell placed.

| Registered User | yeah, triangles do tend to mess up the mesh. but as this is a model that is based on next-gen games specifications...I intend to minimize the polycount as low as I can but still achieve the best results.thats what I do everyday in the studio. and there will be no smoothing modifiers involved ;) for the details that I didnt model out, I'll just paint them in texture and play around with the normal maps and specular values.so for this car, the texture stage is crucial...stay tuned for more updates :D Last edited by alitto; 03-05-2008 at 01:43 AM. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Nice work, as Minimus said well watch out the triangles but your explanation of why there are there it's convincing haha, still don't know how that looks so clean with all those triangles all over there, great work, keep it up. |

| Alex Warrington 3DS | Erm i dont quite understand the process but i think i have it... You make the model low poly against the blue prints? Then convert the meshsmoothed version into an editable poly... Then all the detailed modelling goes on ... (including the tri's) but the tri's dont matter cause u dont do a further meshsmooth do you? Its all autosmoothing? or is there another meshsmooth after final modelling? Confused.com. |

the early stages are spline cage modeling.I draw the lines which defines the shape of the car...its like drawing wireframes on the car but just a few important lines.then I convert it to editable poly and add the details.thats the fastest way to get supersmooth curvatures and clean wireframes. I never use auto smooth or turbosmooth or any other smoothing modifiers ;) hope u understand :D | |

| Hooligan | alitto you should make a tuturial for modeling a car that way or post a link to an already writtin one because i kind of get what your saying but im more of a visual person and seeing pictures help me alot more lol but if you could do that that would be great, or not its no big deal either way i really like your car Keep up the good work! ![]() ![]() ![]()
