Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Goodday all, this is my first post on this site ever and hopefully I am able to benefit from it. . . Here is some renders of a 350z that I've been working on. . .Before and after pics. . .I was busy building the model when I read a wonderous tutorial on the art of edge chamfering to define a meshsmooth. . .needless to say a lot of my work became utterly useless and I had to take a few steps back to apply this technique successfully. and Voila!! look how it turned out! wonderful don't you think? All though its not close to what I want, yet it's gradually coming along. . .If anybody has any tips or suggestions please let me know. . .Who knows? I might just upload this model for free download once its satisfactory. :yaya: Model built in 3ds max 8 and rendered in vray. There's almost no interior yet, I'm dreading that challenge, it looks pretty daunting. . . Oh well, criticism or advice welcome Tridae signing off... Last edited by Tridae; 10-20-2006 at 11:00 AM. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Tutorial It's not so much a tutorial as just something I came to realise. . . Here's the basic rundown of what I learnt 1. build a low res model, ready to be meshsmoothed 2.meshsmooth has a nasty habit of smoothing the corners you would most like to keep, especially on cars 3. select the edges that you want to keep or define in your poly editing mode on you low res model 4. apply a very slight CHAMFER to these edges, say 0.001 5. now meshsmooth, you will see how those edges are now much more defined and the corners are preserved. I'll try and post a short tutorial on this technique sometime with some wireframe pics to help you. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | 350Z update!!!!! After a long time of no internet access here is anouther render of my 350Z. Done with the awesome new Mental ray renderer in 3dsMax 9. . .oh my word, it's so much faster than Vray, at least for metals anyway. . . I've been quite busy, added a entire engine and interior. . .then got a little bored and went to go and fit a ridiculous nitrous system to it and fit mind blowing sound. . . and to think. . . I did it all while I was "supposed" to be studying for my final exams  (hehe, don't worry, I passed) I'm feeling generous and would glady offer up this car if you are willing to trade me something nice in return, say a animatable character? that would be nice. . .or anything cool you have to offer. Hope you like the pics!! P.S - yes I know there are no interior pics, I'm still somewhat ashamed of it. . .thats for later |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | hey honestly, the things you added like the engine and lights and speakers are just to good for your car. There are alot of mesh errors on the car and you should really get them fixed. The otehr stuff like the engine are really nice and good job with them, but seriously fix the car...and what uni do you go to? |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Mesh errors What do you mean by mesh errors? I can't see any except for those two lines on the front bumper wich were actually put there intentionally. . .I'd like to know what you meant so please point it out. . . |
