Kaneda's bike from "Akira"

this is my first WIP post on this site.... looking forward to any and all responses.

I'm getting close to being done.

There are a few things though....

I can't get the decals to not take on the same reflective (raytraced) properties of the red paint (raytraced shellac material.) Any suggestions?

Also, I would like to add some dirt and scrapes to it. Any good pointers as to the best way that this is done?

Links to any good tutorials or detailed suggestions would be highly appreciated.

And of course, any comments and criticisms that could improve my work are greatly welcome.

I agree... there are too many stickers on the front of the bike, but I'm trying to stay true to the design from the movie and those are the stickers that he had on his bike.

Maybe when I'm done with the movie version, I'll create a version of how I would have my own... if it were possible.

As for my post about needing advice on the paint / sticker issue, I've figured it out. It's one of those things that's right in front of your face when you stop to think about it.

Hopefully I'll have an update soon with some more texturing.

well, I beleive I'm done with it.

I'm posting it here, also, to show the improvements that I've made since the last update. I think they are subtle, but add alot to it.

added a worn tire tread texture to the tires.
a few scratches.
some dirt and wear on the bottom.
exhaust, and exhaust stains on back wheel.
fixed the stickers so that they look like stickers, and not paint.

I think that's it.
I've also posted it in completed works.
I'd love comments !

very nice :coolp: i read akira alot in the manga very good bike you know if you purchase an akira artbook you can get pics in there from orthogonal views anyway very clean nice model i couldn't even find one triangle!

i have just started papercrafting and i would love to see this in cut-out form!

would you concider converting it to pdo format (or)
making available a pdf/jpg/gif of the cut out version???
