Take your time Mike, don't rush at all. Just let your self in to the wave of experience and chill.

Cheers

update 13

here is my most recent update. got busy the last week. didn't have time for this project. i want to work on a set of wheels for this before continuing. haven't found a set i'd like to model after. couple i like but still undecided. i might steal some design from each i like and make a custom.

Nice update man keep working, and you will make good car out of that mesh (if I am not mistaking) lol.

@Honzik... You need to put the two vertices one in the other, that way they are certainly gonna wield. If you are using max, the best way to do this quick is to use the snap settings (press letter S and you will activate snap). There is another less efficient way, but you may find it useful. You simply select two or more verts and then collapse them in to one , you can find collapse button on the end of the right list.

Now that is if you are using mesh/poly/patch but if you are using NURBS, I cant help you there. I have heard that NURBS are best for modeling, they use less memory and can be turned in to mesh (otherway on).

I hope I did helped you. Cheers

and god wrk myk car luks awsme try adding a carbon fibr texture

well HONZIK to weld the to vertacies u must hav a edge conecting them if they r in the same surface but ,well if they r in the same surface and dsnt hav a edge conecting between thm it wud not weld

or jst try increasing the weld threshhold well if u hav a pic f the wire frame it would b easy tel wats wrong

thanks all. and happy holidays to you.

@ Honzik
i did my left window frame by coping all the polys on the inside of the unfinished frame (selected them all and shift+drag). i end up with a new element.
Honda Civic WIP - mikeab7925-eg1.jpg
i then flipped them so they view right (poly flip). then i closed all the openings along the seam using bridge and weld.
Honda Civic WIP - mikeab7925-eg2.jpg
after that i just refined it (alot of edit poly) til i get what i have. i don't think this is the right way to do it but it's the way i did it. lol.
also if you don't want vertices to weld turn off auto weld then weld later manually. also on your symmetry modifier you can turn your weld seam threshold down from .1 to .01. that will stop 2 close vertices along the seam from welding.

@ rashiga
any good advice for a carbon fiber material? also what is a good car paint material to use? i'm using mentalrays carpaint material (mi). haven't tweaked the colors much yet.

First of all sorry mike i am solving my problems in your thread, but hopefully you don't mind it so much . And to ´the welding problems well guys thanks for your replys, but acctually nothing worked not even the collapse i set a threshold to as much as it could go but it still didn't weld. I don't know maybe like rashiga said i don't have the edge connecting the two vertices or i don't know well anyway i put some images so plz guys if yyou could check that, because it's really pissing me off! And yes i am using 3ds max 2008 :-) BTW : Mike thx for the window frame i wil try and your car looks great!

@ Honzik
my guess, from looking at your wire, would be to remove the 2 offending edges. i'm just guessing as i'm am a rookie, but seems like what i'd try.Honda Civic WIP - mikeab7925-myguess.jpg

here i tried at some car paint materials. the carbon fiber is way wrong i know. need to find a good way to do that. oh and i know you can see the splice in the sky background. sorry i'm new to this and just wanted some reflect.

I just might start another WIP and this one will be a car. But this time I am not going to quit like last time I tried to make a car. I even have a model that I like now, and am ready to make it. It is Audi r8...

Mike you have brought back faith in me... Thank you...
