need some help (for total noobie)

I'm total beginer in 3ds max (3days now) and i have one BIG problem. I have one good video tutorial whitch explains how to make a model of a car using plane modeling and there is one thing i could not find (see attached photos) how to edit a plane like that:confused:

I strongly suggest that u spend more time with max, may be a month or so, before making ur first car, cause its not that easy! Good Luck n Hope u understand.....

Yeah, a cars not the best thing to model on your first MAX hours, or even days/weeks/months/years :p I know I didn't try to start modelling a car for about 3 years, but I'm slow at the learning of the modelling process :(

To edit it like that, its pretty basic stuff, which is why you should definietly get to learning other types of modelling first.

Basically, in the subselection method, since its been turned into an Editable Polygon, they've gone into Edge mode (or poly mode), highlighted the edge (since its flat), and then extruded outwards to create more verteses.

You then just keep doing that, correcting in the Sub vertex mode as you go, and edit from different views, while chamfering/smoothing to get the desired results.

u need to select the edge that u waant to extrude/pull out and u hold shift and move it in whichever direction u want to and it will copy itself. shift+dragging is a easy way to copy anything.

I agree with everone else. I haveposted my first car that I modeled using Maya but I spent a few months modeling easier things before trying a car.
