I don't know, latest versions of Mental ray beat just about any other render in my opinion.

I use rhino/flamingo for job and hobby. I love rhino's modeling capabilities and Flamingo's renderings.

Also have tons of expirience in AutoCAD and some MAX.

I started modelling things in rhino because thats all my school had for our drafting class (with the exception of autocad). I believe that rhino is much more straight-forward than max and way more accurate.
In addition to 3d models, i've been able to export guitar designs from rhino as an IGES file and import it into Mastercam. From there, I used my school's CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) mill to cut out the bodies of my designs. I've produced 7 guitars from the machine and i swear that rhino was my best bet for accuracy. NO FLAWS.

There is a single tute inside Flam that tells u layers and it's not what I'm looking for, nothing to do with Rhino. So if I dont find some tutes I'll just turn somewhere else.
How does one obtain Penguin?

I also use Rhino, Flamingo, Penguin, and Bongo for work. I would like to use it for more personal modeling also, but time is an issue. I think that Rhino is tremendous for the price, and McNeel and Associates has helped us several times with difficult problems, then provided us with updated commands features to solve specific problems that we have had at work.

I use Rhino, pretty much every day at work. We use it in colaboration with Max for animation and rendering. I would be a maya user if I had a choice, and Alias for modeling, but who had 28k just laying around.

Rhino is pretty solid for the price.
I seem to disagree with most of you though. I think the interface needs a dramatic update. At least, how you interact with objects would be nice. It is the only 3d program, other than maybe autocad, that I can think of where there isn't an option for gizmo movement. I don't want to have to choose a pivot every time I move an object.

The materials there are lacking, as stated, but are fine for most of the people who use it.

This is the only real Rhino forum I've come accross, so I hope people use it for real problems and help eachother out here. The only thing at the mcneel site is a crappy newsgroup that is often down. Hopefully we can get a small following here.

I've been using rhino for about 4 years now and I find that rhino is the best NURBS modellling program I've encountered. The best thing about rhino is the command system. This way, you don't have to look for a button to do a command. It doesn't have anything else, sadly. You cannot do polygon modelling using rhino (you can, but it sucks); and as for texturing, don't even bother.

Hello, my name is Ted and I am a Rhinoholic

I used Autocad for 20 years and started on Rhino about 18 months ago and loved it from the first day.
I am a hard sell too, I looked at various other packages.
V4 is now out with a whole bunch of new features.
