Talking Rhino surface through edges...

Hi there.

I need to find a way of accurately creating a helical surface through the front edges (in red) of these stairs. This will then be used to trim a cylinder on the inside to create a stringer for the stairs. I've tried using sweep 1 but it isnt a uniform surface.

I'm guessing this is pretty basic stuff, but i cant get there! Ideas anyone?! Tea and medals for the winner...
