I thought it was final - it was not. I decided to go a step at a time.
Here's the ultimate (in my view) pages texture. Next I'll do the text

Looks good! Seems like somthing is missing though, more of a bump texture to define the pages maybe. It only seems that way on the front, too smooth.

This is the final Rhino render of the closed book. For reasons of mem economy I did plain text for this presentation:

I invested many hours getting this effect which I personally like a lot. Note PS's great part in helping designing the curved multipage texture.
