This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with ambition and initiative to join a fast-paced, rapidly expanding online games company based in Cambridge and help us achieve our goals for 2007 and beyond.

We have recently expanded our 2d team in order to produce even more games that will be playable over the web. This team is responsible for supplying 2d concept, pixel art and animation for a variety of online Java games.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate Lead 2D Artist with proven experience in managing & coaching small creative teams to head up the 2D Art unit.

The successful candidate will ensure delivery of the highest quality artwork to the game development team and be responsible for making decisions regarding the creative direction of game artwork.

Key duties include:
• Managing and motivating a small creative team;
• Creating concepts through to finished artwork in a variety of design areas including advertising material (print and screen based), online communication, presentations, websites and Flash banners;
• Ensuring project delivery within strict timescales;
• Making informed decisions regarding the creative direction of game artwork;
• Monitoring individual and team quality and productivity, identifying skills gaps and developing talent;
• Look to continuously improve practices and procedures and recommend on changes and initiatives which will impact on business success.

Requirements:
- Good Leadership skills/experience in managing creative teams or equivalent skills;
- Strong layout and typographic skills;
- Excellent traditional and digital 2d Art skills;
- Energy, drive and a team player with a proactive approach;
- A thorough knowledge of Flash, Photoshop CS or Fireworks;
- A passion for games.

Also useful:
- Have previously worked on game development projects.

Salary: £25k+ (negotiable, depending on experience) plus annual bonus, health care, gym membership and other benefits.

Location: Cambridge, UK. Candidates must be able to work in Cambridge or to re-locate.
