No limit, but for not very detail model it's too much. If you need to use high-poly, please do it.

Well, I think polycount is relative to model type, don't? my first model for contest have 550000 polys, and the mesh I make actually have 170000 unfinished (I suposse when I finish the polycount will be over 350000) but they are complex vehicles with a lot of separate parts (tracks, wheels, weapons, doors...). But if I need 250000 polys for make one arrow, well, I need also a new contest: contest for worse modeler of all web, by example.

hi! i just started and i have a few questions.

1) can i make my model using the Blender program?

2) my friend got back from Iraq and i was wondering if i can use some pics he as as starts for my model?

The model must be made specially for this competition
If you can export from blender into any of the allowed formats, it's ok
You can use any references for your model

Stryker said previous, you are allowed to model medival weaponry as well. SO do your swords and what ever you want.
