Rep Power: 0 ![]() | sure do. games load much faster now (hl2, bf2,swat). now i'm always the server with lan games. :) renders are fast too. 4 buckets. the opteron 280 is a dual core cpu. i couldn't be happier with my new machine. i forgot to mention earlier that i have 2 gigs ram. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | upgrade I have a pentium III x2 processors with 1,5 RAM it works fine with 3d MAX and Photoshop the software that I use most. I'm thinking in upgrade my Pc,(I'm talking about a pentium D 3Ghz with 1G DDR2 Ram. Video and sound doesn't matter, I have what I need already.) but at the same time a friend is selling me and AMD Altlon Xp(1,3Ghz 800 RAM) 2 processors. My first interst is in render speed, I never try network render, it will be a big difference if I try network render with 2 PC or I just do a good upgrade to my workstation??????? Last edited by fco3d; 07-03-2006 at 02:02 PM. |

| Registered User | I wouldn't bother with getting a 6600GT now. Get a 7600GT and you'll be laughing :D Thats alot better, trust me, and will last longer. I'm running on a 3500+ (stock), BFG 6800GS OC (The 7600GT is actually cheaper in some places, yet performs better depending on the game/resoloutions (though never worse)!), 1GB Geil RAM, ABIT AV8 3rd eye motherboard, 120 GB drive, Sound Blaster Live sound card (connected to a Creative Inspire 2.1 set), 500Watt PSU, Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 PRO CPU cooler. Looking to get a X-FI sound card, and a set of Logitech 5.1 Z500's speakers :p (When I have money) fco3d, network rendering would speed things up alot. Upgrading a workstation can only do so much... Get a dual core though, and who knows :D

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Look out for setups with Core 2 Duo processors, they are for our kind of work awesome at very fair price. Mainboard 965 chipset Core 2 Duo (4 MB Cache) even slowest one you will love RAM - more you can 64bit Windows XP (forget vista for few years) Graphics card, for me 7800 GT is faster i can use. |
