Robust CG Workstation?

I work for an industrial company doing alot of 3D modeling/rendering.
I need a computer that is heavily graphics oriented.
We're replacing our old Dell workstation 670 and looking to spend around $8000.
Any good ideas on building a modeling/graphics powerhouse workstation?
I need the graphics card to support at least 2 monitors, preferably 4 though.
Thanks!

Well you will need at least 8gb of ram.
Quadro 5800 should be best. It's about $3150. REAL good card.

All I can really say now, I am tired so I don't feel like looking up most stuff.

i would recomend getting mother board that supports SLI (2 graphics card) and like 16 gigs of ram. get 2 high end graphics cards and put them on there, and a good cpu. idk thats what i want to do lol

In order to get 16gb, you won't be able to have a Core i7 motherboard. So if you want Core i7, try this setup out.

Check it out and tweak it. Just a quick list I came up with.

Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 965 Nehalem 3.2GHz - $999.99
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - $288.99
PNY VCQFX5800-PCIE-PB Quadro FX5800 4GB 512-bit GDDR3 - $3149.99x2 - $6299.98
CORSAIR XMS3 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 - $239.99
Thermaltake Toughpower W0156RU 1200W - $369.99

Totals about ~$8,198.94

That motherboard is triple channel. You can not put 4 sticks in there, so you can't get 16gb. Only 12 or 24gb. 24gb is a lot of dough though. Also, European prices are alot more I noticed. Damn

Also, you put in ValueRam? Ouch...

ValueRam may last long, but it will not perform as near as good as other ram. The clockings are always usually low, meaning lower performance and slower speeds.

But yeah, if he wants to spend the extra money for 24gb, that would be great :D haha

Yeah but valueram isn't good for OCing, you can get a lot more done and use less resources from it with some better ram. But it's your choise
