Rep Power: 0 ![]() | prformance issues with 3dsmax hi all, my name is akram and am from egypt , am new to max and i have a strange prob (dunno if it is really a prob) anyways m computer specs r : My current computer: Processor: AMD Athlon XP 64bit 3000+ (1.80 GHz) Memory: 1500 (333 MHz) Graphics Card: NVidia GeForce fx 6600 gt(256 MB) Monitor: samsung 17" Audio Card: Integrated Motherboard: gigabyte k8 triton nforce 4 and the problem is when i render any scene 3d max doesn't use all the ram i have , memory usage in the summary window is always between 350 and 580 and i still have about 700 mb free ram so why doesn't max use this free ram ?? isn't this supposed to fasten my rendering ???? thanks for ur time hope to find an answer soon ps :in zbrush i can work with a model up to 3 million polygons dunno if this will help u :0) |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | If it is a simple scene max will not use all the ram. Also the reported RAM is not always accurate since some programs report physical RAM and virtual (swap file) RAM as the same. Many programs will not use Virtual RAM if given a choice because it will slow the operation down. If you are not running NT/2000/XP Pro (all full 32bit OS's) it will not take advantage of the extra RAM. I am not entirely sure about XP home edition and if it has limitation that affect MAX. I'm sure others will add more info. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | well i got windows xp pro 32 bit , didn't try the 64bit cuz some friends told me that it is very hard to get drivers for it now , so i think i'll just wait till they do a windows or max version that will use the 64 bit :D as for the ram , ur reply makes lots of sence , wel thanks 4 replying :thumbsup: |
