do i need a new computer

i am as new as they come to 3ds/animation,but rapidly becoming addicted.my quetion is will my current computer be good enough?
please be frank and honest. I currently have a 2ghz intel with 512 memory and a evga.com 5700 ultra vid card with 128meg of ddr.
Do I need a new computer or can this one be upgraded or does it even need to be.I know the printed sys requirements but this is not always real world. thanx in advance for any and all help!!!!!!!!!

The specs look good enough....but if u really get into 3d anim get more ram....

Can u give more specific specs bout ur vid card...I never heard of it before....

my video card

the card is by a company called eVGA .com,its an e-Geforce fx5700
ultra with 128 mb of ddr and agp8x/4x I got it at best buy for a little over 200.00
what do ya think

Yup it's good... personally I prefer ATI but your card is still good... :dedmorozb have fun learnin' and modlin' see yah around :alc:

Yeah you should be good to go! I have an eVga graphics card and they can haul, but I have heard that ATI is better overall. (But the price is right for some cheap muscle!)

Dont Get a New Computer

Its good enough its a lot cheaper just too go out and by the parts and upgrade as you get better,

i mean think about it if you sudenly think naaaa dont want to graphic design any more what was the point of getting a new computer? well thats waht i think

i agree that it is a lot cheaoer to build your own. That is what i do. you can decide exactly what you want and don't want.

you should b ok 4 now. i started on a 233 pII with abou 250 mb ram. it is slow.

you got ripped off with your graphics card, 3 weeks ago i got thenew 256 mb Geforce FX 5600 for $155, which retails for nearly a grand, the key is u gotta know where to look, and always buy stuff at cheapo asian shops
