Rep Power: 6 ![]() | yeah a workstation is the best for 3D, as for the graphic card i can tell you that the nvidia Quadro FX series is really good, i have a Quadro FX 1000 and is perfect for my needs, there are more high end products, but they are much more expensive, so i recommend a mid range or an entry level graphics card to start learning 3d, also keep in mind that these video cards delivers the best performance for 3D aplications and they are not good for games, and most games won´t support dual processors computers because workstations are for work and not for gaming. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | well, i guess that you would be able to play some games, i have a dual xeon workstation and before i bought it, i was told that i wasn´t going to be able to play games on it, i used to play GTA3 and when i got my workstation i tried to play GTA3, but it was just crashing every 5 min. :mad14: so i just gave up gaming, but i think that there are some games now that supports HyperThreading and those could work fine.:) |

| Professional | Hey I Use a Ati Radeon 9800 pro That works great had no hasels at all get great results in games and watching graphic clips and all. Computer Wise well: dunno your price range but i personally would build my own get your parts custom. one of cheapest and best ways for cg design. or i herd great things from Boxx http://www.boxxtech.com and Sgi - but there expencive and probly not the best way to go as a noob. Just get aleast a dual proccesor - 1gb ram - 2.0+ ghz - Good Graphics card Ati - nividia etc. Get good size 1024 x 768 screen. And that should be good for your needs as a noob no need to get anything over the top. Cheers :) |
