Arrow Build new pc for 3dmax and maya

hi
i just joined this forum.

I have old PC with config:
Intel HT 3ghz
915gav motherboard
nvidia 6200 512mb gfx card
2gb ddr1 ram
500gb seagate sata hdd
19in LG LCD

Whenever i try to render a 100 frames video file in 3ds max 8, it takes 15hours to complete.

What i m lacking here in??
processor/ram or gfx card.

suggest me a suitable system upgrade {pro, mobo, ram, gfx card)
i can spend $530 and i'm from India and things here are bit costly.

I have in mind:
AMD phenom xxx model processor, ddr3 4gb ram, Ati 4650 gfx card.

Or should i stick to intel?

suggest suitable combos.

although it really does depend on what your rendering, i can only offer the rig i have as any sort of reference, but i will say this: processor and ram are everything in 3d rendering!

my rig;
amd phenom II quad core 9950 3.8 ghz
gigabyte ma770-us2 motherboard
inno3d nvidia gtx250 512 gddr3
2 gig ddr 2 ram
2 500 gig western digital hard drives
1 terabyte external hhd
windows 7 32 bit build 7600

i get really good render times on this rig

Listen to Abdulbosit. The AMD is currently better to make images/video with max because it's more stable than Intel. These new processors are the best and the cheapest for people. Use this advantage and get your self a good rig. ;)

I'm going to say intel :) but I'm just an intel person.

I would say from those specs that you have, its probably the ram. you should get some new ram maybe some ddr 3 ram at around 4-12 gb, it really just depends how much money you have. because you might have to upgrade the cpu and motherboard if the new ram wont work with the old stuff. Also don't forget to get a 64 bit OS if you go above 3 or 4 gb of ram. (i don't know what it is for Windows 7)

I just updated my computer, and its rendering 4 - 8 times faster than it was before

my new specs are

CPU - intel core i7 960 3.2Ghz (I will overclock to 4.0 ghz later in the future)
Ram - CORSAIR 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
Motherboard - ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366
CPU Cooler - COOLER MASTER Intel Core i7 compatible V8

all I need to get is a new graphics card maybe a nvidia 280 series card

win 7 is still 4 gig, anything that runs on 32 bit architecture has a 4 gig limit
i think from memory 64 bit architecture has a theoretical limit of 6 to 8 terabytes of RAM

That is truth. The new 64bit systems support (what I have heard) up to 1tb but I might be wrong. xD

BTW... Nice rig you have there Travis
Cheers
