advice on making a pc system for 3d art creation

Hi,
I'm looking to get a new computer. My single core, ddr1 memory and old 5 series nvidia card are really dated and slowing me down. I can teven install things like unreal engine 3 on my computer due to my graphics card. Anywho, I'm looking to spend around 700 usd on a new system. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what would the money be best spent on? (need a gfx card, MB, ddr2 memory, and quad core cpu). Also , is more then 4 gigs of ram necesary for modeling and rendering. I use 3d studio max 8, photoshop cs2, getting started with zbrush, and hoping to get into unreal 3 engine when I can install it.

Thanks

Most likely it will be amd due to theire new phenom x2s being so so cheap compared to the cheapest i7 from intel.

i'd look into the new motherboards with support for the hybrid crossfire /or sli. the onboard video is better than most have hardware and you can slap a video card in for dual card setups. for about 140-160$ you'll have a mobo and basically 2 videos cards.

ati hybrid
nvidia

also yes a amd phenom 2 denab 920 would be fine and can overclock to 3.4GHz on air, trust me. i did although it's not needed.

if you can afford it get 2 identical sataII 16mb /or 32mb cache harddrives and look into RAID.

make sure to grab atleast 2GB of Ram 4GB if you can @ 800MHz. 1600MHz is overrated.

also you'll need atleast a 500watt power.

yeap..the AMD new X2 7750 is a good one .and also good for the price.
check also the the newest X4 Phenom II..this is also a good choice for you.

for mainboard check the price for DFI DK 790FXB or DFI JR 790GX..

i recommend you go with mainboard with 790gx or FX chipset.

Yeah, go for AMD. They are around 2-3 times cheaper and they give almost the same results for processing as Intel. My first computer was AMD, something like socket 940 I guess, on 1900Mhz single core and ECS Elite Group MB and I loved it. It was powerfull even in that time...

Form there I have changed my configuration 4 times (I had that computer bought in 2004), and changed system around 9 times... Weird

AMD processors are known to generate less heat than Intel's processors and they save power far better than Intel.

PS: Don't beleve me, buy any PC magazine and look in hardware section, you will see that AMD is the ultimate choise.

Cheers

hi everyone,

Mathboard: ASUStek M2N32-SLI DELUXE, Socket AM2, NVidia nForce 590-SLI
Prcessor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Mhz 5000+
Memory: DDR2-800 Transcend 2x1Gg
Video: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM) 256Mhz-128bit

I work at this computer, for modeling orderly, but for Rendering much slowly.
for instance, this object with hair granting takes time beside 3 minutes and 20 seconds.

this only one frame, but if their will be 1000 or 10000 that on this much time leaves.

I too want buy other computer, but do not know what Intel, AMD or Macintosh?

Also think about a 100gb SSD for the boot drive - it really makes a difference.
The machine doesn't render faster but it really feels snappy during work.
