Any idea if this plugin works in Max 5.1. I've not yet tired it.. as I'm still at work.. just wondered if anyone knew if it would or not?

hey bro!

i just tried your tut but i'm encountering some problem. i'm using max5 and i'm on the part of the tut where you use the grass mask as placement object for the plugin. i then made the diffuse texture for the green grass material. when i look at my perspective viewport, i only see the green material but no grass of any sort. not sure if the plugin is workin or i just missed something.
can you help me on this, coz i really think your tut is so cool and i wanna do something like it, say a garden scene.
thanks in advance!

Hi!
Great Job! very very very cool!
I'm Using VIZ; Plug Ins are OK!, but I can't find the right textures...
PLease send me by mail
skanner70@bigfoot.com

Why my result is different? Too poor grass and too regular. :mad14:
take a look:

And Are you shure of plan parameters grid of 10x10?? My result is like this.....
I've started a Standard Primitive PLANE with theese parameters:
Length : 200;
Width : 200;
Length Seg : 10;
Length Seg : 10.

Too poor grid ? I've increased paramters to 30x30 and applied RELAX mod... Result more nice

And why so more lights?

Missing Texture

Thank you for writing/posting the tutorial. I found the link to 3dm-mc.com at the www.cgtalk.com forums.

I'm doing well with completing the tutorial so far, though I had some difficulty understanding what was meant by "mixing" the textures. After downloading the material library file, this became clear.

I'm missing the "Grass2.jpg" texture that you're using to mix dead grass with the very green grass texture that I have. I'm using max 5.1 Educational and have looked everywhere.

Thank you again!

Hey there i have just started your Tutorial but im a bit stuck...

On section 1.3 i have to clone the "Ground" object and name it Grass_Mask. When i clone it do i leave it in it's position i.e. exactly where the "Ground" object is?

Next, for 1.4 i know people have been asking you about this part but im confused about how this works. Tell me if i got this right

This is how i thought you do it:

I make sure the all three items (not sure what they were - Diffuse....etc in the edit marterial editor is highlighted so i get three colour buttons?

If so is the first button the "GR03.JPG", 2nd the "GRYDIRT1.JPG" and the 3rd is the "Noise"?

Tell me if i got that right?

Next do i apply this material to the ground object?

I have but all i get is the GRYDIRT1.JPG shown on the ground object, it dosnt look like your image with the grass.

Can you tell me what im doing wrong?

Thanks!!

:super: :thumbsup:
