Rep Power: 10 ![]() | Engine Flame Tutorial I'm using this tutorial on another site to get an engine flame for my rocket I'm doing, but I'm stuck on a part. The link is http://www.the3dstudio.com/(ylrjqxau...id_tutorial=74 (You need to copy and paste the whole link and it will bring you directly to the tutorial.) I non-uniform scaled the light and I'm stuck right where he says to add a small "core". I don't know what he means by this, and I thought maybe you people might know. If I can't get this to work, I might just add a lens effect flare or glow and it actually might look more realistic. What do you think would look better, this engine glow from this tutorial or a lens effect flare or glow? Thanks for your help. |

| Forum Moderator ![]() | hmm... i'm guesing that what he meant by core is..you just build a hemisphere(geospehere/spehere+non-unifom scale)..but you need to assign its ID and make it as a VIDEO POST....this technique add your glow effects.:deal: *i've used a different technique before...its a long time.:togo: *sorry if i'm wrong...just trying to help:angel02: |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() | YEAAAAAAA!!!! Ok, it was partly my fault, I forgot to "use" the far attenuation, I was just showing it, woops. But I just didn't know how to get that first menu up and I saw "fog" and thought atmoshperic effects and took a guess and was right so that helped. But I mostly needed that "use" of attenuation. But I also couldn't have done it without your help Izmal because I didn't know how to make that core, but you were right. I really appreciate the help. Sometimes if somebody helps you with one thing everything else just comes together. Once again thank you. ![]() |
