3DM3 Tutorial: Creating Bicycle Model in 3DS MAX

Bicycle Tutorial

I got stuck before I even started.

Which Viewport does one start with? Also, what's the difference between using Alt-B and putting the image file in the Background and putting it on a plane? (Which method is better?).

Do you start with the Front viewport?

Otherwise, I suspect this is a good tutorial - once I get Step 1 figured out.
