Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hey, im new, just a quick question, i have 3ds max 7 and im doing the mazda tutorial, i got everything ready, my planes all set up, i got my sierra mist ready, and i go and make it into a editable mesh like in says on the tutorial, then it says and i quote "Now we start modelling the car, go into your editable mesh and choose "Edge" from the panel. Pick the outher segment of the plane, hold down shift and drag the mouse to the wanted direction." I started where he started on the pic he had on the site, i click and press shift and drag like it said, and nothing happend. Now do notice me = ass pounding noob, however any feed back or anything that i am doing wrong or that i missed would be very nice. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | i did this and now my plane moves, instead of creating what the tutorial says, is there any options that im missing??? is there a special way you to set 3ds max up?? could it be that im using a different version than he is?? im using 7 btw??? could it be that im big noob(bingo), apart from that , if anyone knows why my planes moves, do plz tell if you can. Also is there any other way of modeling a car? or is this the only way?? Btw if anyone wants to email about it, or send me a good tutorial my email is sesshomeru@gmail.com thanks in advance Last edited by [AWP]Exc414[S]; 10-18-2006 at 08:55 AM. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | To get the Viewport Boxes Working Oops, i posted this looking at an Old question, dunno if its still relevant.. but ya.. hope it helps if anyone still needs this info LoL I had a hard time getting thew viewports up and running as well, and finally was able to.. they way i was able to do it was.. After i add a Bitmap in for my Diffuse Color, it will show up on your sphere like thing. But when you apply it to the box, it shows up grey still, to fix this, theres a little button on the material editor, right above the "standard" button called "show map in viewport" its a little Cube with blue and white squares on it, after you press it your texture should show up in your perspective viewport, but not the other ones, to fix that you need to change the front/top/left viewports to "Smooth + highlights", instead of "Wireframe", do to this, right click on the viewport text "front" and select the "Smooth + Highlights" option, also to make it easier to see what your working with, select the "Show Faces" option from the same menu.. Im not sure if this is the proper way to do it, but as i was unable to find any tutorials to explain this procedure, i just ended up doing it this way. Also if u like to be able to See your picture while Modeling, I also like to right click on your car, and goto properties, then enable "See-Through", allowing you to do almost anything you need. I hope this helps anyone out there who ran into the same problems as I, and if anyone else knows a better way to, then by all means share :D Last edited by Diehard; 01-26-2007 at 12:12 AM. |
