3DM Tutorial: Making a planet by Greg Martin

This tutorial should step you through making a simple, yet realistic-looking planet using Adobe Photoshop 7, and ONLY Adobe Photoshop 7. We're working small here, so keep in mind that the larger you work, the harder the planet will be to create (just a bit more work as size increases).

I just tried this tutorial, but I got stuck on the erasing of the lower right part of the planet, because when I try to erase it, it shows a different result. Not like that on the picture shown.

Instead of erasing the part, it shows a blue colored sphere like portion with a black hole in its center.

I have no idea why. I hope somebody could tell me.
