now i got it i used the wrong kitchen.hdr now i used one of an tutorial-package on this site http://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/mr/HDR_Max6Tut_EmreG.zip and it works fine :-)

Gooofy if you still need it you can get it from there. I like to know whrere your HDRI is from ^^

This Tut is absolutely awesome! Very helpfull and well explained! But I have 1 problem; my chrome material is very bad... so maybe some1 can explain it me a bit more. When I choose the shellac I have the choose between

1. Discard ol material
2. Keep old material as sub-material.

So which one I have to choose? After that I can't see the None like here's said:

"Click “None” next to base material and choose Raytrace"

I'll hope that someone can me explain it a bit more. Or someone can say what I do wrong.

Hey there!

Followed this tut but i've got to a point where i'm stuck.
I have 3dsmax9 and i cant get this step done

Theres no sampling option under the final gather rollout. Theres sampling options in the Caustic and Global Illumination rollouts. But when i played with them and went to render i got an error about photon maps missing or no photon maps....

Any help?

you will have some inconsistency's if you try this with max 9 because mental ray is set up very different.
