Rep Power: 10 ![]() | 3DM: Snowy Mount In this tutorial you'll create a mountain model, and texture it with two colors - white & gray. Why just two? Well, the purpose of the tutorial is to show you how to place snow & rock texture depending on the slope. If you want, you can add more complex textures later. Thanks Polyman for this! Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Very nice tut. Although I would suggest, bullseye, that you arat with a terrain that doesn't have quite as much noise. That way it will be more "real world". Good tests though. Later. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | It doesn't look so diferent as you may think. Add some more realistic lightnig & play with the bump a litle... You can get a number diferent of results. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I've been experimenting a bit with the settings and I came up with this image. It's looking not bad, yet there are some details i don't like. The biggest problem is the snow. I've added a pretty large (noise)bumpmap to make it look realistic. I've added another (larger, not stronger) noise bumpmap to the ground-texture. The problem is that the bumpmap changes the slope, so the diffuse color (which depends on the slope) changes to snow at some more places. That itself is not a problem, the thing is that the snow looks way more blurry and less sharp at those places, which might result in very lousy looking close ups. The problem solves itself when you decrease the size of the noise-bumpmap of the ground, so that smaller snowareas are being created. This, however, is not a good solution since i like the look of the mountain itself (without paying attention to the texture) way better when a larger bumpmap is applied. I hope you've been able to understand my rather hard-to-explain problem and that someone knows a way to solve it Btw great tutorial it gives me the results i was looking for for months :coolp: Cheers Chuppa ![]() |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I'm a complete n00b at this. I cant seem to get anything close to what you had in you results for this tutorial. I'd be happy if i can make it look as realistic as the picture you had on there. My end result looks like crap. I played around with the settings for hours trying to get something that looked even remotely similar but failed miserably. So, if someone could help me out and atleast get me to the point where i can make it look like the pic from the tutorial, that would be great. The modeling went fine and i got close to the same results but the texture is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy off. Here is my result. http://3spherestudios.com/3dstuff/mountain.jpg Thanks for the help in advance. |
