Lightbulb Woody's News Round-Up: Mega Toy Story Edition (04/08/10)

We’ve got a lot of Toy Story to talk about today. By the way, this is what happens when I get tanked with a ton of news that I want to get out as quickly as possible.

WonderCon Reconciliation: Alright, I’ll admit it. I didn’t do the best job covering WonderCon this year. But hey, I’ve got some great links to share! Here’s a video from Latino Review where Lee Unkrich confirms that a new character from Cars 2 appears in Toy Story 3, he won’t say who though! It’s part of what will become a non-stop tradition, meaning that Cars 2 should have a character from… The Bear and the Bow!? Hey U Guys also has some great footage from the panel featuring an intro by John Ratzenberger with line readings by Kristen Schaal and Jeff Garlin! There’s also a Q & A at the end. What a great panel, all around hilarity ensues!

Lee Unkrich on the Three’s of TS3: Some of the biggest questions that come up about Pixar’s upcoming sequel are "How will they top the first two Toy Story films" and "How will 3D work in Toy Story 3." Lee Unkrich sets out to answer both questions in separate interviews. The first is on MTV’s Movie Blog where he chats about 3D conversion and whether or not he sees the technology as a fad. In the other article, his latest with SciFi Wire, Unkrich tackles the reasons behind the sequel and how he thought of the series as a whole. Both are worth a thorough read.

Pizza Planet is Now Hiring: You may have seen the flier to the right floating around the internet lately. So, maybe Pizza Planet isn’t really hiring in your area (the DHS location in Orlando might be) but the cool ads made to attract students to TS3 pre-release screenings don’t end there! Turns out, there are more of these clever sheets which you can see collected in this tweet. Learn more about the Toy Story 3 Cliffhanger Edition college tour at this link to find out if you’re eligible.

Studio Stories Circulating the Net: I’m not sure if Disney or Pixar uploaded all of these, but the Studio Stories found on the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 Blu-rays have been making the rounds on the ‘net lately. They seem to be extremely popular, and for good reason! If you haven’t seen them already, head on over to SlashFilm for a peek. My all time favorite would have to be ‘The Movie Vanishes’ featuring Oren Jacob and Galyn Susman — tell me you didn’t gasp after seeing that.

Apple Loves Toy Story 3: Today, Steve Jobs revealed the updated operating system for iPhone: OS 4.0! He needed a little help to showcase one of the new features, dubbed iAd (scroll down at link), so he turned to Toy Story 3. iAd is a new platform for mobile advertisement featuring videos, games and more without taking you out of the current app that you’re running. You can see how this works with Pixar’s latest over at Engadget.

A Week In Toy Story: Don’t forget to read through the blog to find a ton of other breaking toy stories. Did you remember to check for the new Toy Story 3 Disney twenty-three covers? Have you seen the Pook-a-Looz yet? Are you planning on watching Toy Story 3 at Pixar? Oh, and did I mention an exclusive character premiere? All that and more, on Upcoming Pixar!

That’s as much Toy Story as I could pack into such a small place! Hope you enjoyed the latest, action-packed installment of — Woody’s News Round-Up! Yeehaw!
