What’s in 3D Artist magazine, issue 14?
3D Artist issue 14 is now on sale, filled in its usual style with generous helpings of tutorials, stunning artwork, inspiring interviews, and so much more.

The cover image of this issue, by the very talented Chris Nichols, is a representation of HP Lovecraft’s Cthulhu, which is discussed in the studio section of the magazine in a step-by-step tutorial feature. This is character creation at its best, so be sure to pick up a copy of this issue to fully appreciate the final render on the cover, as shown in all its 3D glory! Look out for the stereoscopic details around the character’s outline, too – all a play on Lovecraft’s concept of a monster so terrifying, that to look at it will drive you insane. Although, we think he’s quite cute…

Other creature features in this issue include tutorials by Carlos Ortega who talks us through the creation of his friendly dragon – a cartoon masterpiece –whilst Anto Juricic shows us step-by-step how he created Frankenstein’s monster.

The workshop hosts a variety of tips and tricks by our professional contributors, including a Masterclass on displacement mapping, optimising mental ray for Maya, working with focal lengths in 3ds Max, and making icebergs in Vue. We also have CINEMA 4D and Poser advice for you, and a Back to basics feature dedicated to material channels for beginners. Plenty for everyone, as always!

3D Artist is also dedicated to keeping you up-to-date on the latest happenings in the 3D community and industry, so while you’re taking a break from the screen, catch up with what’s going on in the world around you and stay top of your game. With news, reviews, interviews and features, there’s always lots in 3D Artist to keep you informed and inspired until the next issue is released.

Enjoy! Feedback is always welcome.
