[Press Release] NYC Usergroup Seminar-June 28

http://www.3dm3.com/forum/3DNY Association--the Northeast's largest association of 3D artists and animators--is hosting its next industry seminar on Tuesday June 28th at 6:30 PM sharp at Tekserve. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required. (http://3dny.org/register.html)

The after-work event includes a visit from Alias software to show their powerful new MotionBuilder application, a look at 3DNY's new "MAYA|Multi-Pass Rendering" MediaBook, plus a few step-by-step tutorials from the DVD, a Demonstration of Syflex--the superfast cloth simulation plugin, software raffles, and a chance to show your latest work.

ALIAS' MOTIONBUILDER 6.0 DEMO'd
Alias Software's Daryl Obert will be showing some of the powerful capabilities of this unique animation tool. He will address its streamlined character setup, ability to create characterizations, custom rigging with props, and advanced subjects like retargeting and the editing/blending of motion data. MotionBuilder will change the way you work in 3D (more info at www.alias.com).

MAYA|MULTI-PASS RENDERING
What is "multi-pass rendering" (MPR) and how does it make your work easier and faster? We will be answering those questions, and pulling out examples from 3DNY Publishing's latest MediaBook for some live tutorials. We will share techniques that save you time, money and make your work move smoother (more info at www.3dny.com).

Tutorials presented will include:
1. Using illumination as an MPR tool (as seen in 3D World magazine),
2. Shading networks that give free shadow passes,
3. Rendering High Dynamic Range Image (HDRI) output
4. Making of Oscar nominee short "The Cathedral"

We will also take a quick tour of the new MediaBook itself, including its fast-learning Primer and interactive sections, its high resolution movies, and advanced study modules. MAYA|MPR will be available at a special discount to all those attending the show.

SYFLEX CLOTH SIMULATION
The Syflex plugin (available for Maya, Houdini and XSI) offers one of the most efficient and flexible cloth solutions available today. A NYC based production team working on their new animated short film "Summer Breeze" is making great use of it, and will share some of their insights (more info at www.syflex.biz and www. summerfilm.com/)

SOFTWARE RAFFLE
What 3DNY event would be complete without a software raffle? This round we have copies of MAYA|MPR, and SILO MODELER.

SHOW YOUR STUFF
Show and tell time, bring your samples to show off some of your latest and greatest work. Preferred format is QuickTime videos or JPEG images on a CD or DVD. (Make sure to let us know you intend to bring work when you register).

REGISTER NOW!
Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required. (http://3dny.org/register.html) Tuesday June 28th at 6:30 PM sharp at Tekserve 119 West 23rd Street, NYC.

We would like to thank our host Tekserve, purveyor of fine computers and service, serving the New York digital community for over 20 years.
