Lightbulb Pixar Canada: Now Open For Business!

Who’s ready to revisit the Lamp’s legacy characters in never-before-seen adventures?

Well, Pixar Canada certainly is with the grand opening of their new facility in Vancouver, British Columbia! After holding today’s press conference, the satellite got ready to start working.

Studio execs are currently preparing to train about 20 employees with hopes of starting on a short this August! Of course, Pixar Canada only wants to get bigger. That’s why general manager Amir Nasrabadi is excited to bring 35 more employees through the next 18 months.

With fresh talent coming in, Nasrabadi is also looking for a larger place than the current "7,000 square foot Gastown space." The goal is to find 20-25,000 feet to permanently settle in downtown Vancouver in the future.

Pixar’s characters are in good hands with creative director Dylan Brown in charge. If you’ve seen his work (notably as sup. animator on Ratatouille), you know he’s the bomb. Brown is also a pro at throwing toys into ceilings

Remember, Pixar Canada means two things for fans: Revisiting classic characters in short form and much more content throughout the year! As I’ve said before, I can’t wait to see what comes out of this facility. Personally, things in the style of Cars Toons always get me excited, but we’ll see.

The estimated wait time for Pixar Canada’s first project is 6 to 9 months from this August. Vignettes should start becoming available throughout Disney outlets like Disney.com and Disney Parks.

Congratulations to Amir Nasrabadi, Dylan Brown and Darwyn Peachy on establishing a studio which is sure to bring us great new content very soon!
