Happy New Year Everyone.

I just wanted to give you a bit of information about our upcoming Maya Character TD Level 1 and Maya Dynamics Level 1 courses at VFX Learning. The starting dates are January 5th and January 7th respectively. All of our training is mentored by professional artists curently working in the VFX industry. Classes will take place on our online virtual classroom, giving you access to our lessons and personal reviews from your own home via your computer, iPad, iPhone or any Android device.

All our courses are available both in English and Spanish

For more information please visit www.vfxlearning.com/courses

Here are the course descriptions:

Maya Character TD Level 1:

In this beginning level course we will be introducing the basics of cloth simulation using Maya's nDynamics system and hair simulation using Maya Hair. We will begin with the foundation of all nDynamics, the Nucleus solver and flow into the basic settings of nCloth objects and nConstraints. We will finish the course by addressing hair sims for simulating ropes and chains. Course work will cover cloth simulations of static objects both at the origin and fixed as part of models that could used as set pieces as well as non-deforming animated models and rigs which frequently have cloth attached to them.

We will also discuss increasing model resolution at both pre and post sim stages of the work flow. Hair simulation will cover creating follicles and hair systems that work separately and within the same system and how to attach them so that ropes, strings and chains behave as if attached to models in real life scenarios.

This course work will deal mainly with simple cloth set ups and single hair follicle set ups. Principles for planning ahead for mass production of cloth and hair set ups will also be discussed in preparation for future courses.

Maya Dynamics Level 1:

In this training series we will explore the main areas of the Maya's dynamics engine. We will begin with basic particle emission and we will build up week after week working on more elaborate setups that will showcase the power and versatility of effects animation within Maya. The focus of this course is to teach our students how to analyze a particular effect and determine the most time/cost effective way to achieve it.

We will cover generic effects setups for natural phenomena, deformable geometry and basic crowd behaviors while always aiming towards a solid understanding of the core concepts and how to adapt them to suit a variety of situations.

Thank you
