d'artiste: Digital Painting 2 presents the techniques of leading artists Daniel Dociu, M?lanie Delon, Marta Dahlig, and Don Seegmiller. Each Master Artist showcases their approaches and techniques in painting characters and environments through expansive graphic tutorials.

Beyond the fantastic tutorials, we delve into the artist's past experiences to give greater insight into their personal and professional work and also the foundations of their success. An invited artist gallery provides the opportunity for the Master Artists to single out inspirational artists and comment on the work of the greater cg community.

About the artists

Daniel Dociu studied art and architecture in Romania from an early age and got his Masters Degree in industrial design in 1982. For the following five years he worked as a product designer, then moved on to teaching composition, visual communication and drawing at the Ion Andreescu Fine Arts Academy in his home town. He worked as an art director for Squaresoft, Zipper Interactive, and Electronic Arts. Currently Daniel oversees visual development for NCsoft’s North American projects, with particular focus on ArenaNet—the Seattle-based developer of Guild Wars.

M?lanie Delon studied History of Art at The Sorbonne University in Paris. She currently works as a freelance illustrator for several publishing houses, magazines like ImagineFX, and game company Ubisoft. Her first art book ‘Elixir’ was recently published by Norma Editorial, and M?lanie is currently working on the second volume which will be released this year.

Marta Dahlig has been drawing and painting with traditional media since childhood, moving onto the computer at the age of 16, when she became a freelance painter. Doing private commissions initially and commercial book illustrations, Marta now works for Future Publishing, creating various painting tutorials for ImagineFX magazine. Marta came to prominence with her ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ series of paintings and continues to create bold characters in emotive and poetic settings.

Don Seegmiller attended Brigham Young University graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Design. His work has been displayed in major art galleries from England to Hawaii, and he’s completed over 900 paintings held in many private and public collections. Don currently teaches senior Illustration courses, traditional head painting, figure drawing, and digital painting for the Department of Visual Design at Brigham Young University and also teaches figure drawing at Utah Valley University. He was previously art director at Saffire Corp. for six years and is an acclaimed author in digital character design and painting with several books to his credit.

Like all of our previous d'artiste titles, Digital Painting 2 is also available in a leather-bound Limited Edition. These editions come with an individually-numbered gold seal certificate of authenticity and are strictly limited to the first 200 customers. The Limited Editions also come with a set of four limited prints featuring the work of the featured artists, and an exclusive collection of Photoshop and Painter custom brushes used by the Master Artists.
