3DxLabs from 3Dconnexion to foster ongoing collaboration with 3D communities

Support for Caligari trueSpace7.6 now available on 3DxLabs website, a new online resource from 3Dconnexion designed to encourage community-driven product development and innovation

3Dconnexion, a Logitech company, has launched 3DxLabs, a new online resource designed to bridge the gap between traditional product development and community-driven innovation.

Whether you’re an early adopter, a 3D enthusiast or design engineer, visitors to www.3dconnexion.com/labs have the opportunity to experience and evaluate new and emerging innovations, technologies and potential products in the developmental stage. In addition, 3DxLabs visitors are invited to share feedback with 3Dconnexion engineers and developers, helping to influence future product priorities.

“The 3DxLabs website was designed to foster a collaborative development process so we can better support our community in the ways that are most important to them,” said Dieter Neujahr, president of 3Dconnexion. “In addition, customer feedback has always been important to us, and this allows for another avenue in which people can share their opinions about what’s working and what’s not, ultimately contributing to our future application goals, plans and support.”

One of the first applications available at 3DxLabs is a 3Dconnexion plug-in for Caligari, subsidiary of Microsoft, trueSpace7.6, the free 3D modelling, rendering and animation software. 3Dconnexion 3D mice give design engineers, illustrators, architects, animators, and 3D enthusiasts using trueSpace7.6 a streamlined workflow by providing a compelling two-handed work style for more intuitive viewing and editing of 3D models and designs.

In addition, 3Dconnexion 3D mice integrate into trueSpace’s collaborative environments for creating and sharing designs in real time, including transferring models to Microsoft Virtual Earth, helping to ensure a consistent 3D design interface and immersive design experience.

“We are delighted that trueSpace7.6 is now available to customers at 3Dconnexion’s new 3DxLabs,” said Roman Ormandy, founder of Caligari, subsidiary of Microsoft. “The mouse and keyboard are inherently 2D inputs, great for text documents or photo manipulations, but lacking when it comes to moving around a genuine 3D environment. 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice solve that, making it intuitive and easy to fly through 3D worlds in trueSpace or Virtual Earth, so you can be immersed in them like never before.”

About 3Dconnexion 3D mice
Unlike mice confined to motion on one flat plane, 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice enable design engineers to move in all three dimensions simultaneously, with the ability to pan, zoom and rotate camera views without stopping to select commands. By gently lifting, pressing and turning the controller cap, graphic professionals can intuitively control their 3D design environment, with automatically synchronised camera positions for various view projections to minimise unnecessary camera movement.

Support and availability
3DxLabs software runs on multiple operating systems including Windows® and Mac® and works with the entire 3Dconnexion 3D mouse product line – SpaceNavigator™ Personal Edition (MSRP 59ˆ inc VAT), SpaceNavigator Standard Edition (MSRP 99ˆ ex VAT), SpaceNavigator for Notebooks (MSRP 129ˆ ex VAT), SpaceExplorer™ (MSRP 299ˆ ex VAT), and SpacePilot™ (MSRP 399ˆ ex VAT).

All 3D mice are available from professional CAD resellers and major online resellers including Amazon, Ebuyer, Dabs, Scan, PC World Business, MacWarehouse, Microwarehouse and Equanet. For a full list of resellers visit: www.3Dconnexion.com
