3DM3 posted new tutorial for Beginners. In this lesson you will learn how make 3d objects with simple shapes. In 3dsmax, these modifiers will convert 2D lines to 3D object. Thanks for this tutorial Mohammad Saatchi.

Hello, and thanks for writing this tutorial for myself and fellow newbies :)

I am having some trouble with step 5.

"5. On the toolbar, click the Snap fly out and choose the 2D snap type. The 2D Snap Toggle is located on a fly out of 2D/3D snap options."

I cannot find these buttons. I am using 3ds max 6, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you Lwkd and I'm glad that it was useful for you.
attend to toolbar (in top of the max viewports and under menus), you will see 4 images of magnet. The first of these is this!
If you don't find it yet, go to
Customize menu > Show UI > (click on) Show Floatings Toolbars

That's it.

Thanks for the help, but now im stuck on step 19. :(

19. Move mouse over the top vertex. When blue plus-sign appears, click left mouse to create line that show in Figure 7. At the end Right-click to end create line.

Does this mean to create a new line at the same position as the previous one that is already there? On figure 7 the new line is to the left of the previous..

Thanks again

This mean continue create line for created line (the new line will not be separate) in some position near the pervious vertexes. (if you like have thicker cup, make more distance and conversely for thickness cup need fewer distance).

Question

im having problems with the weldcore, it doesn't seem to make my model smooth as in figure 3 the disfigured geometry is still there when i click weld core. And when in step 19 you say "19. Move mouse over the top vertex. When blue plus-sign appears, click left mouse to create line that show in Figure 7. At the end Right-click to end create line."

i did that and when i try to creat the connecting line i can't make the second line how i want it because it keeps on connecting only to the grid points not where i click. I tried everything else but i don't know how else to make the second line thats connected to the first.

please help

firstly sorry for delay! for your problem about weld, make attention that you create your line correctly! attention that you must creat your line in (0, 0).

for creating secound line, turn off snap and try again.

if you have problem yet, tell me.

be success,
