Here is my case for why I think it is ON TOPIC. Quiet a number of users - yesterday, Friday 12th March 08 - seemed to lose access - via loading and pinging to their favourite 3D sites including the Maxon site ( reported in the Cinema Threads here ), Luxology site and the forums at Caligari. And no - it was not DNS issues as many users changed DNS IP's to see, no change. Obviously this event is of concern to us 3D users AND is CURRENT. Just leaving a thread like this here may satisfy curiosity as to what may have happened now and in the future if such things happen again. And also their is no offtopic area at CGTALK - something that might be an idea, but maybe not. I stress again, pull this thread if you feel it necessary to do so. It would appear a concensus forming re yesterdays events are what are called Routing Black Holes: http://hubble.cs.washington.edu/ After a small bit of digging in the blogosphere I found this event occured a few days back AND did not get much reporting, though I reckon it should have. This makes compelling and interesting reading ( not too heavy ) and may have big consequences for the web: http://ntsblog.burtongroup.com/netw...ity-or-lac.html Cheers Aidan More...
