Ugly Shadows

Hey, I'm rendering a room scene using mental ray but at some points in the room the quality of the shadows looks poor. I've tried messing with a lot of settings but no change. Has anyone had these problems before?

Use higher quality image, this seems to be caused by very low quality jpg image.

No it's not that. This image is lower quality because I had to go into paint to get the red outline and I couldn't save it as a .png because this site allows only .jpg and .gif uploads.
