Shadow and Disappearing objects

Sorry this seems like a super noob question but I have pieces of a puzzle disappearing, but there shadows don't fade with them. They just stay until the object hit 0 opacity and then blink off.

What am i doing wrong? This seems super basic but I can't find any references to it anywhere.

Added a visibility track to the objects and have them go from 1 to 0, so they slowly fade away.

Can anyone help me out??

Thanks for your time!

Here is a pic, hopefully, in it you can the shapes are all vanishing (their visibility tracks are going from 1 to 0). This makes them fade out. but as you can see their shadows stay at the same strength as they would be at full opacity. That is until the animation ends and the shapes fully disappear, when the shadows blink off.

The blue shape does not change. I hope that makes it a bit more clear.

Thanks for all the help on this dumb question.

hmm..thats a good question..~
the only solution that i could think off is to decrease the shadow density(parameters)...
click on the light>shadow parameters>object shadows

*good luck.

Thanks,

I think you are right on this.

But I would have to create two identical lights, one for the disappearing objects, and one for the static object, and have the one drop off the shadow density as the objects fade out, and the other light stay constant for the static piece.

I use Flash to do animations so working with 3DMax is a challenge! Not used to having to think about animating lights.

thanks for your help!!

If i were you, i would use v-ray. It is really easy to use and it makes really good results for calculating the lights and shadows. Plus, you don't have to put full of light to make a scene. Just put an hdri or a color in the environnement and it will create light on your objects.
