I've just selected something and then it only shows the edges (only while modelling). But I wont it to show the faces/polygons.
Please help I've also done no customizing.

Maybe you are in a wire view. Turn on "Smooth and higlights" (or something like that) by right-clicking in the left upper corner of the active viewport (window)...
