Rendering Hardware

Hello all,

I'm thinking of changing my BFG6800GS OC 256MB AGP card to a QUADRO FX3000 256MB. Do any of you know if by getting this card rendition time will improve? My current set up is:

CPU:Intel 3.2GHZ 800FSB 1M CACHE. (775)
MEM: 2GB 3200
Video card: BFG6800GS OC 256
MB: MSI MSI 865PE Neo3-F
Power Supply: 500W

Thanks,
Jose

Thanks Minimus,

I checked out Autodesk's page. But they recommend 4GBs for the 64-Bit version.
I guess I should have mentioned I have the 32-bit of Max.

Thanks for your input.

But it also depends on the 'type' of your rendering. If you renderer is using 'software rendering', upgrading your graphic card won't help since its using processor and your RAM for the rendering process while 'hardware rendering' will only use your graphic card for the rendering process. So you need to know, which hardware you should upgrade. However, a better graphic card will make you smoother when scrolling in the viewport that have many polygons.

Thanks :)

What would be considered software rendering and hardware rendering?

Depends on your renderer. Some renderer have the setting to choose which type of rendering that the user wants. Can I know which 3D designing software you are using and whats the renderer that you've assigned?

Thanks :)
