Realistic Grass?

Hey guys, I have a problem with creating a realistic grass, suitable for my scene.

I tried with Hair and Fur and Scatter - none worked...

So I really hope you suggest me a technique or even a tutorial for creating grass.

Here's my picture:

I dont want grass on the rocky spots, and I dont know how to do that using scatter, perhaps you can tell me?

Tnx in Advance!!!

1. select your landform, convert to poly
2. activate polygon selection, select the area you want to put grass- to do this, go to selection tool bar and select brush selection. hit control then select the area
3. after polygon selection, on modifier area, just click the word edit polygon - this will terminate the selection but still retain the area you selected.

apply scatter to the object you want to scatter. on scatter dialog box, select your mountain as distribution object. on Distribution Parameters, hit selected face only

Start with some kind of brush (scrubbrush, toothbrush, hairbrush) then trim the bristles really short, then paint/dye them green.
