how to exclude hair & fur from lights ???

i have a face with hair on top and beard,
i want to light top hair with spot lights and beard with other lights,

but how i can exclude top hair from beard lights ???

Going from my knowledge on 3dsMax5...

Look on the light in the modify panel, then click the exclude button. Then you just tell it what meshes to exclude from illumination, shadows, or both.

You cant trick the hair and fur render effect as far as I know, I'm not too sure this is will work. I'm assuming the hair on your head is on a different object than the hair on your beard, if it isnt I dont think it is possible to fix your problem. Okay, if they are on different objects just turn one of them off then render it and save the hair and fur render effect pass, then turn the other on one and the other hair object off. Once you've done that just combine the two render passes into one final image and volia!
