hi, i'm new and i need help (hair and fur problem)

hi, i decided to kick start a shiny portfolio with some high res artworks, cos I've been making low poly models for ages. so anyway, i wanted to try out this new hair and fur option in 3ds max, and everything but one thing is going smoothly. the hair pokes into the mesh... only by a few mms but it only takes that much to give him bald spots.

yer, it is an emo kid :P, but I'm not an emo, I'm just making fun, you know how it is, anyway, whats the most effective way to stop this hair from falling into his head?

update

ok, i manage to make it so that he doesn't look like he has a bald patch, that looks ok yeh?

well, so far everything looks right, but lets take a look on the other side of his face.

...yeh... a bit of unwanted facial hair there :P but the orange/yellow guides don't go anywhere near there! the actual hair almost ignores the guides and falls in there, what a pain in the arse. anyone care to assist?

EDIT: jesus, it took 3-5 days for this message to be aproved

hi im not sure how this might work but i've tried to do turn on the dynamics under the hair rollout i just duplicated the same object i was applynig hair to but with out any hair and then have the one that im gonna put hair on align with the copy. And under the hair i select add collision and add the copy object then run it so it will collide with the object and it wont make it do that. If you have any questions just let me know
