Help on the "Organic modeling tutorial"

Hi everyone ,
I found that nice Tutorial here: http://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/organic_modeling/
and did try it out ,but now I m stuck the problem is..

When I import the "PDS" picture into 3DS MAX8
it looks good in the preview ,
but when I got it assign to a "plane"
It looks very unsharp, like its low resolution , also the lines / squards I did draw
are not full to see only lil points of it.
but its not a LowRes picture and I took the same sizes as Eric,
I can t even clearly see
the squards I painted in the "PDS" on the MAX- plane to create the face on
so I can t go on .....

Is there a setting in 3DS Max 8 to make it look normal like in photoshop?

Or is my PC much to weak to show it clearly?
Don t laugh now my PC got:
Pentium4 3.2 G
Ram 1024
HD much enough
GFX Card ATI Radeon 9800XT

Do I need a hardcore Rendercard to see a simple image(PDS) or textures
clearly in 3DS MAX 8 ????

and got another question , are rendercards realy need-able when
rendering an artwork ,how would it look without such a card / with my gamer card?

and sry for my english

you computer is ok and will do fine for now....but if you want to have the bestgraphic card to render and all you would like to have a quadro fx card:)

but again...it will be imposible to play games on it.

so a good game card will do just fine to render and do god for game hehe.

and yes it is a settings in max that helps you make the picture inn the view port look better.

i use max9 but should be the same:

Go up to"customize" on the main tool bar at the topp.

then on the rool out go to the "preference" on the bottom

a new window opens and on the topp it's many options...pick "viewport"

when you look down on the site now you will see a button at the bottom that says "Configure drivers" hit it.

then a new window opens again. here is the settings you must to swich.

Bacground texture size: 512

Download texture size: "here you need to check the box" mach Bitmap as Closley as posible.

this is the the setings i use:)

feel free to change to the settings you need.
but anyway it is here you change the quality on the viewport.

Wooooohooooooo , yea thats it
I was in "Preference Settings" before but couldn t find there nothing
which could it make better ,never thought of open "Configure Driver".
It looks now very cute like in Photoshop.
Thanx alot Minimus now I can go on.

My rusty old ATIRadeon 9800XT on a AGP bridge will handel a rendering?
I will try that out when the results are ok, I think I won t buy a "rendercard"
or maybe later to do sum of my Artworks in 3D.
