Flip Transition

Hey!
I want to make an asphalt floor turn into a soccer field.
The concept is to divide the field to small squares and to rotate each one individually, but this will take forever.
If anyone has an idea or knows a script that can do this plz help!
Any other info is appreciated.

Here's a link of a World Cup commercial containing a similar effect (when the ball touches the ground):

go to "youtube" and add this at the end "/watch?v=3ADxMeisZlA"

Regards,
Rany

After a quick glance at the transition effect of the architecture, it seems you only have access to a pixel shader, which means that you accept the position, color, texture etc. Input and output of a color. It is pretty trivial to do in 2D, so it seems to be in 3D. Is there a reason that is done in 3D.
