car materials!!

Hello this is my first post, I just read 2 car modeling tutorials and I cant beleive how hard is to make the damned surface to be smooth (and not look like a teenager face or my dodge) I think I might cope with that, but I really would like to know how to make the materials so they look like the beatle in the page of Thomas Suurland (by the way thanks for the blueprints) www.suurland.com, mainly the inetrior of the lights (english is not my born language so...) or whatever they are called they looks so cool Iv tried reflection with raytrace diferent settings shaders whatever and Icant make my mesh to look like that, I know its not easy and that it takes a lot of effort more than i realized, but i really want to do that kind of job, its art its beautiful, if I can model that i would be able to do anything or almost.
I hope somebody will have pity on my troubled soul, i cant sleep I need to know all the tutorials talk about how to model the mesh (and thats a lot by itself) but nothing of the materials or the ilumination to make the render look awesome.
Thanks in advance guys
Later

PS i might post a pic of my car its a peugot 206 please dont laugh...

hello there!
i can't say how, this all depend on what software you use. but i could help if you r using 3ds max (5.1) though.

anyway, basically, this is what you do if you want something like suurland's render:
look into your maual for global illumination, radiosity and HDRI. basically its like this: your model got nothing to do with the texture (well, at least not that much anyway). instead of applying raytrace & a refelction map, put in skylights with HDRI.

like i said, if you use max, i can help further

Hi zerobyte
I am using max and making a Bmw M6 right now.
I have done two tutorials on making cars and now I am doing this one on my own. I think that the modelling is good for my experience. Here is the BMW if you want to see it. I am very poor on renders so any information will be helpful for me ... if you could explain it more detailed :)
