Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Aligning Hello, I'm a Lightwave user who is switching to 3d Studio Max, and some things are different so I have some questions. ![]() In Lightwave there is an option "set value" wich allows you to align points/poly's or whatever on an axis, for example if you choose x-axis all the selected geometry is aligned in one straigt line on the x-axis. I'm wondering how to do this in 3D Studio Max. I tried the align tool but that doesn't seem to do anything. Here's an example of what I mean: http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/4878/4646rw9.jpg Help is greatly appreciated! :) |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | In an editable mesh, the option in in the modifier panel under the "Edit Geometry" rollout. It's called "make planer" A MUCH MUCH MUCH better version is available if you are using editable polys. Under the "Edit Geometry" Rollout, their is a "Make Planer" button that will align the sub-object selection on the axis that they are already closest to aligned to, and their is 3 buttons, one each for the X,Y, and Z axis. Hope this helps

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | Your welcome. I'm sure that there are times when editable mesh is better than poly, but most of the time poly is superior because it has more flexibility. If anyone knows any cases when mesh is better, please post and tell me, I'm curious if anyone has found a time when it is better than poly.
