3dsmax 2010 and windows 7

Hello there,

Final version of windows 7 just released. At this time we have not enough references that give us enough information about ability of 3dsmax 2010 on this operation. So I think here we could discuses about it.

For first question, witch version of 3dsmax 2010 will work well on windows 7 64bit?

Thanks,

i will say that 64bit always will preform a bitt better then the 32bit. the question is "are there made any new drivers so all the render functions in max suport windows 7?"

anyone tried running 2010 on windows 7?

I installed w7 64bit and want install 3dsmax 2010 on it. ust I'm wait that some one tell me, witch version of 2010 will work on it? 3dsmax2010 for vista 64 or xp 64?! Then I can tell you more information. Now I just can say that this windows is really great and more and more better from Vista! (I just check it 2 days and need more time for better review)

Are there any hardware requirements specific to run Windows 7? I'm thinking about upgrading from XP x64 to Windows 7 x64, I'm just hoping my computer will be able to run it properly. (I need to upgrade my hardware as well, I built this machine back in 2006.)

Windows 7 need some requirement like vista. Sure you need upgrade your system. I think RAM is more important in W7. you must have minimum 4gb DDR 2, to run it good.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I was thinking about upgrading the RAM anyway. I only have 2 gigs in this system right now. I may just need a completely new workstation so that I can be a lot more productive.

I have windows 7 x64 running on laptop and desktop. laptop is just the ordinairy core2duo with 2gb ram. but W7 runs great and max doesnt have problems running it. only thing it's slower then my desktop. (Q9300, 8Gb ram, etc.)

With Vista and 7 i had this problem, dx10 isn't working correct within 3ds max. If i set viewport renderer to dx10 it's glitchy, shows tri's (what i dont want) and it flickers. So i use the dx9.
Someone who has a sollution for this???

I read some where about this problem, yet I don't install 3dsmax on my PC to see what will going on. Sure autodesk will release some SP to repair this problem but till it publish, you can change your viewport to openGL

ya, it's good solution when you don't need you dx10 or dx11. Also 3dsmax going to work better and better with directX each time so it will be great if we use last version of directX of course the program must be match with it to work well.

Hello!

I have windows 7 x64 running in my new PC and it's just brilliant. BUT, there are some problems with 3DS Max 2010 (x64): viewport is very choppy even if there are no objects in the scene. This is very irritating since everything else works fine but this... :/ And yes my PC has the power to handle 3DS Max, it's just a bug or something which I've been looking to find answer for.

It seems there are some problems in 3dsmax 2010 viewport on windows 7. Do you install SP1?

It Works, so far

I just loaded win 7 64bit, then loaded Max 9 32bit. I set the program compatibility for all max .exe files to xp sp 3. Then I updated Max to sp 2 and so far no issues. I keep you guys posted if I have any issues but so far so good.

I haven't used finalrender with 3ds max on win7 so i don't know where it comes from. did you find anything on the site from finalrender about compatibility issues with win7? could be the problem...
