Water above gold

I'm not sure of translation. In original "Voda nad zlato". Water is locked in the cage instead of gold and coins - meaning in future (somewhere even today) drinking water will be priced much higher than gold.

C & C welcome.

I like your idea, but your scene still can be improved ;)
1. The coins doesn't look like a coin if there isn't any 'pattern' at it.
2. The water inside the cup shouldn't have 'waves' since it isn't shaking or moving, it just put inside the cage.
3. The materials still can be a lot better since you are using Vray. (especially the reflection of those materials).

Overall is not bad, keep it up. As minimus said, I also like your concept, creative and original ;)

Thanks :)

Thanks for comments :-)

Anyway :
1 ... I'm not sure what do you mean - some texture ?
2, 3 ... I don't know a lot about how to make materials, I just downloaded some from the v-ray materials.de page. I wanted to put some better mats, for example for the cage, but i'm affraid of render time, difficult v-ray materials take a lot time, even now with only two of them (gold, water) it takes about 7 hours to render. And with the water waving everybody will surely know what's inside, maybe it would be harder to get it with flat surface.

I'm still learning, so don't expect much :-)

1g ram thats a bit thin for 3d rendering. max 9 recomend 4g.
and no wonder it takes some time when you render 1280x960...do you render all your test renders inn that format i remember when i did that when i started 3d...a clue is to start rendering every think inn a lower scale like 640x480 or somthing like that.
when your done with every thing, material, modeling, texturing lights and all...then sett up the render for the final render!

i just talk out of my own eksperiences doing the same ^^
cheers mate.

1. Yes, add bump map or displacement (use Vray Displacement) of the image at
the coin if you don't want to model it ;)
2. If you don't want the 'waves', you can set the displacement/bump at the material lower or even to none.
3. I'm using 1GB RAM too, and I've rendered some image and they aren't using 7 hours. Your scene not very complicated, why it will need 7 hours? Last time I rendered a clay render with 2.46 million polygons, it can be rendered wtihin seconds. My PC is Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, nVidia 6600GT 256MB PCI-e. Here is another thing, did you use HDRi?

Yup, or you can use region rendering if you only want to see one or 2 of the models in the scene or part of the scene. Everytime I also render with smaller scale (640x480) and only the final render, I increase the size.

Thanks :)

I'm not sure. I'm not using hdri, but i've found that most time consuming is the gold material - it's almost 100% reflective. And of course GI, the filter and other things does the job. Clay render improves the render time a lot.

Thanks
