Smile Truck

I've used 3dsmax 9, rendered with Brazil with one light source and a high dynamic range based image. For my friends in Utah Wesly and Chris.
I hope you like it.

Thank you SMAK for your kinds words, I really appreicate that.
Yes, I work in 3d industry and I really love it. Michael is really great, he has a lot of talent and he will also make his way in 3d industry - because he is damm good. We worked together on some nice projects, and that was a lot of fun with him.

About a tutorial:
I can tell you, the key is color matching. It's really rare to find the right information, it's like top secret in the industry - I dont' know - it was hard for me to find the answers and I didn't know until today, why this very important point is so rare to find.

So I decided to make a tutorial you can find on my website, and it describes the whole process. You need to know, the key is color matching.. if you make your own hdri's, it's much aesier, because you can match white, black, and the reflections with your probes...

Start here, and you will see, you will reach the same result:
http://www.bernhardrieder.com/cgstudies/side_1.html

and after reading, it will be a lot more clear for you, why color matching is so important.

Hope that helps you a lot,
bernhard

hmm

Hello !

Well, the model looks good, nice work.
About the rendering:

@lights:
don't use any light first, and get sure you only use a HDRI, nothing more. just the hdri as light source.

@match colors:
Follow my instructions on my tut, and try to match white, black and the reflections, just with a sphere in our scene file. Of course, you need to match the colors with your hdr image you use.

@materials:
well, did you render in brazil ? or vray ?
in brazil you should use a shellac material, in vray a blend material.
you blend between two basic vray materials, using a fresnel fall off.

follow these 3 points, and you will have a very nice result.

Hello and thx for your kind words. Sorry for my delay, I was very busy.
Well, the material is a blend material, I use a base and a top with fresnel reflection.

you can find a very good tutorial about that on 3dtotal, in making a mercedes, a black one.
it's the same way ...

hope that helps,
bernhard
